Overview

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the HR Supervisor will oversee one or more HR professionals and has direct responsibility for the overall administration of HR activities such as onboarding & offboarding, employee information management, reporting, benefit administration, employee relations, policies & compliance, and employee engagement. Additionally, the HR Supervisor will assist with supporting other activities such as talent acquisition, compensation, talent development, and performance management.

 

Responsibilities

  • Partners with HR Director to develop department goals, objectives and systems; recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to impact and improve department efficiencies and level of service.
  • Assists in the review, preparation, and administration of the organization's wage and salary program.

  • Supervise new hire orientation and onboarding program to ensure new employees gain an understanding of the company as well as employment policies, procedures, and expectations; this includes all required new hire paperwork, as well as new hire requests for assets, allowances, benefits, etc.
  • Oversee handling of corporate health and welfare plans, including open enrollment, ongoing enrollments and
  • Act as a resource for managers to ensure their understanding and compliance with benefits, HR policies and regulations. Answer employee questions about human resources policies and procedures. Keep management advised of potential problem areas and recommend/implement solutions as appropriate.
  • Supervise employee offboarding to ensure that exit activities are thorough and complete; this includes exit interviews, asset and access management, HR and benefit updates, etc.
  • Ensures company and employee compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.
  • Perform internal audits of the company's HR files to ensure that documents are in accordance with retention guidelines.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures, and communicates changes in the personnel policies and procedures to ensure that proper compliance is followed.
  • Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures organization's compliance.
  • Establishes and maintains department records and reports; reviews and audits records to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards; ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.
  • Oversees the maintenance of organizational charts and employee directory.
  • Ensures that requested HR data reporting (ex. EEO-1) are timely and complete.
  • Leads internal investigations for employee relations issues brought forth by employees and/or managers, whether directly or through third party system.
  • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the HR Director, on personnel matters.
  • As needed, assist Corporate Recruiter with backup or overflow activities related to Talent Acquisition, i.e. sourcing, screening, interviewing, offers, candidate communication, etc.
  • Develop the necessary training and knowledge to support the HR Director on various "critical" HR duties if/when HR Director is not readily available, or out of office.
  • Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role is preferred
  • Experience within construction industry or related industry is preferred
  • Professional certification is required
  • Experience supporting employee populations with 300+ employees
  • Bilingual Spanish - professionally proficient in both written and verbal
